Sussex and Shannon Sandstone Members of the Pierre Shale Formation
Pursuant to 2 C.C.R. 402-17, Rules and Regulations for the Determination of the Nontributary Nature of Ground Water Produced through Wells in Conjunction with the Mining of Minerals (“Produced Nontributary Ground Water Rules”), K.P. Kauffman Company, Inc. has filed a petition requesting a nontributary determination for produced ground water withdrawn to facilitate or permit the mining of minerals from geologic formations associated with coalbed methane oil and gas production wells within a geographically delineated area located within the Denver-Julesburg Basin southeast of Longmont, Colorado in Weld County. The formation that is the subject of this Petition is the Pierre Shale Formation of the Sussex and Shannon Sandstone Members.
